The Transportation Projects Planning Authority was established in 1973 for planning transportation projects to achieve the greatest possible technical and economic efficiency for these projects.
The main tasks of the authority are as follows:
Drawing up the general plan for transport projects and preparing related programs.
Assisting various sectors in technical and economic studies related to transport projects.
Conducting the necessary research to develop transportation facilities on the basis of linking scientific and technological developments in the field of transportation and project management methods.
Supervising the planning and implementation of the transport projects assigned to the authority.
Since its inception, the Authority has prepared four studies at the national level in cooperation with consulting expertise offices and international bodies.
The National Transport Study. The First Phase 1977:
The National Transport Study: The Second Phase 1981.
The National Transportation Study: The Third Phase 1984.
The Comprehensive Study on The Master Plan for Nationwide Transport System in Egypt (Mints2012).
In addition to many specialized studies for all transport sectors that have been carried out since the establishment of the authority until now, and their total number reached 113 studies.
